Noosa

Last month Damien sent me on a holiday with my sister. I was the first holiday I had had without Damien or the children. We went to Queensland for 5 days. Four of which were spent on the Sunshine Coast at Noosa. My sisters holidays usually consist of going to a resort during the school term. This wasn't much different. We spent our time at Noosa at the Sheraton Resort. She had got a good price for the room.

We had two double beds in our room and a spa bath. Outside there was a pool, spa, sauna and a gym. There was also a Day Spa if you wanted to pay the extra. It didn't quite fit into my budget though.

While we were in Noosa we both had a massage at a place near where we were staying. It was much cheaper than the day spa. It was the first proper massage I had ever had and it was really nice and relaxing. A great way to start our holiday. We also went on a sunset river cruise.

Most of it was looking at multi million dollar properties. The cost to stay in one of these house over Christmas for a week is approx. $14,000. For all those that have that much money to spare. We also had a forest to one side of us.

On Wednesday we went to the Eumundi Markets. It was huge we spent three hours there and didn't get through it all. I would have to be the best markets I have ever been to.

We spent Thursday in the gym, sauna, pool and relaxing in the spa. They had one of these bars in the pool. So we ate lunch there. I dropped some of the chicken from my sandwich in the pool. I did get it out though.

That night we went of to Brisbane so we could spend Friday shopping. After such a big room in Noosa we ended up in this tiny room in Brisbane at the YMCA building. It's not fun to stay at the YMCA. We believe it was to prepare us for home knowing that home is better than this room.

I was able to find some things to buy for myself which was nice because most of the time I buy for the children. We then went across the river to have lunch. While we were walking I made a comment about hoping that I would be able to see the temple from there. Rebekah looked up and noticed it right away. We could see the Angel Moroni from where we were.

After a great time away it was time to go home and back to reality. To my suprise while I was away some cleaning fairies totally cleaned the house. If only I could keep it that way.

Thanks Damien for the break and all you do for me. Thanks also to all his helpers that made it possible. And thankyou Rebekah for sharing your holiday with me.

Book Week 2009 Safari

Last Friday the children had their book week parade. The theme was Book Safari. So we tried to think what they could dress as. Rory didn't take long at all to know what he was going to be.

A tiger. Anabelle is scared of him when he wears this tiger mask.

Isiah was a hunter.
Juliet was a tree with a monkey in it.

Ruth was a ballerina.

Charles was an orange Nephite.

And Anabelle was just Anabelle.

"Mum! Juliet has hurt herself"

I don't not what it is about dads going away for work but it seems like the disasters aways happen during this time. Last week was one of those weeks but luckily Damien was on his way home and we live so close to family that are great helpers. On Friday night Rory was cooking dinner. He enjoys making up his own dish. Juliet was wanting to help so she ended up stirring for him. Every thing was going okay then I had to go to the lady's room. I heard Juliet screaming but thought it was just the children fighting until Rory yelled out, "Mum! Juliet has hurt herself." She had knocked the pan off the stove and spilt it all down her legs. She had pulled her pants down to her ankles before I got there. She went straight into the bath and I put running water on her legs. Nanna, Grandad and Aunty Sarah were there within minutes to help me. Damien was driving through Pt Augusta on his way home.

Juliet's first concern was that we wouldn't have anything to eat for dinner. Then it was that Rory would be angry with her for spilling his invention. Next came ,"I want my daddy!" Whenever she hurts herself she asks for her daddy. I ended up ringing the ambulance after Nanna suggested it. The ambulance crew were great. They tried to keep her mind of the pain. They gave her a green breathing whistler to use as well. It kind of works like the gas when you are in labour. She really enjoyed it, they had to take it off her at the hospital she wasn't very happy with that. She was still in a lot of pain so they had to give her painkillers through the nose and put a pad with a special gel on it on her burns. Damien got some stuff for us and the came straight to the Lyell McEwin Hospital.

She had to be transferred to the Women's and Children's hospital so the burns unit could treat her. She had some more painkillers through the nose in ER before going to be treated. I'm not sure if it was her nerves or if she could still feel all the pain but she would scream every time they touched the burns to get rid of the dead skin. Her right leg had a burn the size of a 20c piece, the left leg was much worse. She has special pads on her burns that contain silver to heal the healing process and to keep out germs. We have to keep the pads moist so they don't rust. We will be off to the hospital tomorrow so they can see how the burns are looking and to change the dressings.

I am so glad it wasn't at the beginning of the week. I'm even more grateful for the priesthood on the earth and that I have family members who hold it. The priesthood blessing she received was such a comfort to me and helped me through the night.

Thank you so much Nanna, Grandad and Aunty Sarah for dropping what you were doing to help us out.

Juliet was given a trauma bear by the ambulance crew.

Juliet found it very comforting throughout the night.

Juliet's leg covered with the dressings.

AUNTY SARAH IS HOME. YEAH

School holidays brought much excitement to the children. The highlight would have to be Aunty Sarah coming home from Karratha. The boys were sleeping over Nanna's house on the Thursday night( the night Sarah was coming home). They went to the airport with Nanna and Aunty Tamera. They were told that they were picking up a friend of Aunty Tamera's with green hair. As soon as Rory saw Sarah he knew that was why they were there but Isiah hadn't noticed her because he was busy looking for someone with green hair. The next day she came around when the boys were dropped off. It was great to see her. When Juliet saw her she screamed out, "Aunty Sarah!!!". She then ran up and hugged her. Charles was very happy as well. Anabelle was not sure what to make of it all. Life is now a bit more peaceful for me. I no longer have to listen to, "When is Aunty Sarah coming home?" and "Is that her plane?" Instead I get, "When are we going to see Aunty Sarah next?"

WELCOME HOME AUNTY SARAH. WE LOVE YOU

The ADVENTURES of RACING ROCKET RIGER TIGER

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE LIVED A SUPER HERO NAMED RACING ROCKET RIGER TIGER (RRRT). HIS SECRET IDENTITY WAS RORY PILKINGTON. HE LIVED IN THE TOWN RAGERSVILLE. HE HAD A PET TIGER CALLED RIGER. THEY HAD A SUPER MOBILE CALLED THE ‘R MACHINE’.

ONE DAY RRRT WOKE UP TO THE SOUND OF SCREAMING PEOPLE. “I WONDER WHAT’S ALL THE NOISE” SAID RRRT, “WE BETTER GO CHECK”. SO THEY WENT TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND AS SOON AS THEY WALKED OUT THE DOOR EVERYBODY WAS ASKING THEM TO SAVE THEM FROM THE EVIL VILLAIN ‘DOOMGA’!

THEY QUICKLY GOT THE R MACHINE BY A REMOTE, AND GOT TO WORK. FIRST HE GOT THE LASER BLASTER AND TURNED IT ON TO SLEEP MODE. THEN FIRED AT DOOMGA .SADLY HE MISSED. HE FIRED AGAIN, HIT! THEN HE SENT OUT 12 ROBOTS (HE HAS MADE THEM ALL 90,000,000 AND 9,000,000 BEING MADE). HE GOT THEM TO PUT HIM IN A CAGE.

AFTER THAT THEY WENT TO RRRT’S SECRET UNDERGROUND HEAD QUARTERS (RSUHQ). “PUT HIM IN THE PRISON” SAID RRRT, “WE’LL QUESTION HIM WHEN HE WAKES UP”.

WHEN HE WAKES UP THE PRISON GUARD SEES HIM. HE CALLS RRRT WITH HIS COMMUNICATOR, RRRT GETS RIGER TO GET HIM AND PUT HIM ON THE TRUTH MACHINE (IT MAKES YOU GLOW BLUE IF YOU ARE TELLING THE TRUTH AND RED IF YOU ARE LYING). WHILE THEY WERE QUESTIONING HIM THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE BOSS OF THE BAD GUYS WAS GOOWGUY AND HE WANTS TO DESTROY RRRT AND ALL THE SUPER HEROES, SO HE CAN BECOME RULER OF THE WORLD. “WE MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN” SAID RRRT, “CALL THE SPY ROBOT AND GET HIM TO WARN ALL THE OTHER SUPER HEROES, AND PUT DOOMGA IN THE GOOD MACHINE THEN WE’LL USE HIM TO BE THE MESSENGER”.
AFTER HE IS FINISHED IN THE GOOD MACHINE THEY GIVE HIM A NEW NAME “HOW ABOUT MESSENGEGA” SAID RIGER. “GOOD THINKING” SAID RRRT, “THAT WILL BE IT”. NOW HE IS THEIR MESSENGER THEY WILL GET HIM TO GIVE A MESSAGE TO GOOWGUY, “TELL HIM THAT WE’RE MUCH TO POWERFUL AND TELL HIM IF HE ATTACKS HE’LL DIE THEN ASK HIM WHERE HE IS GOING TO ATTACK THEN COME BACK HERE AND TELL US ALL THE INFORMATION YOU FOUND OUT”
WHEN HE GOT BACK HE TO RSUHQ HE TOLD RRRT THAT GOOWGUY BELIEVED WE ARE TO POWERFUL AND FIRST HE IS GOING TO ATTACK MOVERSVILLE WERE JOGOMAN (JOSHUA SERLE) LIVES. “HE’LL SAVE UP HIS ARMY THEN ATTACK US” SAID MESSENGEGA. “WE’LL HAVE TO HELP JOGOMAN HE HAS BEEN MY BEST FRIEND SINCE WE WERE KIDS AND RIGER HAS ALWAYS HELPED US” SAID RRRT.
WHEN THEY REACHED MOVERSVILLE THEY WENT STRAIT TO JOGOMAN’S HOUSE. JOGOMAN GREETS THEM HAPPILY AND THEN THEY TELL HIM THE NEWS JOGOMAN SAYS “LUCKILY I GOT A TIGER LIKE RIGER HIS NAME IS JIGER, I ALSO MADE SOME ROBOTS”.
BY THE TIME THAT GOOWGUY PLANNED TO ATTACK EVERYBODY WAS READY. BY THE TIME HE ACTUALLY GOT THERE IT WAS 9:45am.

TO BE CONTINUED

"It's all about Charlie"

Last week was a very busy week. Sundays are usually busy for Damien and this one was no different. By the time he got home we only had a couple of hours together before we were of to our nephew's baptism. It was great to see most of my family.

For those of you that didn't know we noticed some lumps on Charlie's head a couple of months ago. We saw Dr Graham a month and a half ago and he had no idea what they could be. He sent us of for a ultrasound. That showed that there were more lumps than we could see but they had no idea either. So we were sent to a paediatric surgeon, who also had no idea, a month ago. He wanted to wait a month to see whether they would go away. He had said one of the things it could be was a skin condition that would go way. So Monday Charles had another appointment with the paediatric surgeon to see what was happening with them. In that month another one had appeared and they looked slightly larger to me. The surgeon decided that he would do a biopsy to see if they could find out what it was. They don't suspect anything to concerning but we just want to know what is happening. An appointment was made for Friday to have this biopsy done. Charles had a cold so I was hoping that he would be ok for Friday.

On Tuesday Charles' cold had gotten worse. He was running around fine in the morning except for his cold. By the afternoon he started to sound asthmatic. I decide to take him to a doctor. I was told he needed to get him to hospital because his breathing wasn't to good. The others all ended up at Nanna's (Thanks Nanna). We were there from 5:30 to 10:30. The doctor spoke to us about asthma and gave us information to read. The main reason we were there so long is they wanted to monitor he to see how the treatment went. If he hadn't gotten better then he would have been in overnight. The children didn't get to bed until 11 at night. The poor things.

On Wednesday Isiah had an assembly item. We did offer a sleep in but Isiah was so keen on doing his assembly item. He has been learning about space this term and they were singing so song about it. I was fun to watch.

On Thursday I had an appointment.

On Friday Charles had his biopsy. We left home just before 7am to be at Parkwynd Hospital at 7:30am. He didn't go in until 9:30.He had to fast for the biospy and didn't start asking for a drink or food until about 20 mins before he went in. About 30 min later he was back sleeping. He slept on my lap for about 45min. He wasn't worried about his head at all. He was complaining more about the needle in his hand for the drip. He was finally able to drink when he woke up and they got him a sandwich once he was ready to eat. It was 2:10pm before we even got home. Anabelle really didn't like it. She was all over me for the rest of the day. Rory decided that this week was "all about Charlie." He also says "Charlie is CRAZY!"

Saturday was spent watching Rory, Isiah and Juliet play soccer.

I am so glad that week is over. I don't know what we would have done without Nanna. She helped out so much this week. Thankyou Nanna.

Charlie's hospital name band. He kept telling me it had his birthday on it.

The bandaid is where they did the biospy.

A lot has happened since we got home from Perth. We had a week to recover from the time difference before the children went back to school. The Saturday after we got back from Perth Damien had a wedding he had to perform. It was the first one I have actually attended. I normally help him with the paperwork (it's a bit easier to read my writing than his) but don't attended the wedding it self. The couple had invited both of us to the reception so I went with him. They had us release butterflies after they were married. It was quite nice. Two weeks later we had another wedding to attend. The wedding was held on the Pt River Dolphin Cruise. We ended up eating our entree and dinner before the wedding took place as one of the brides daughter ended up in the emergency room at the Hospital. I'm sure they will never forget that day. Since the children have gone back to school Juliet has gone up a level on her reader and got new sight words. Isiah has gone up three levels on his reader and had an excursion to the planetarium. Rory has also had an excursion to the planetarium and has had an assembly item. They sang and signed the song "I am Australian". We also had a sports day in there. Here is the video of the assembly item.

The CTR ring

A few weeks ago we had some missionaries over for dinner. For the message the children were all presented a CTR ring. They were asked to give it to a non member friend and tell them why it is important. They did some roll playing with the boys on how to do this. Juliet wasn't interested in joining in the roll play but did watch them. They all placed their ring where they would remember them. Later that week I found Juliet's ring and put it in my bag.

So what is so exciting about this CTR ring I placed in my bag.
Well, that Saturday Isiah had his last Futsal game. Juliet was playing with a friend, Lani, the younger sister of one of Isiah's friends. I happened to notice the ring in my bag. I asked Juliet who she had planned on giving the CTR ring to. She decided on Lani. I handed it to her and she went over to Lani. You may think this all went well, handing a ring over to a girl, but not so. She asked Lani if she wanted the ring. Lani said no , stood up and took off. Anyone that knows Juliet knows she isn't the sort to stop there. She stood up and chased Lani saying, "wait, but I need to tell you what it is about." I watched her run after her friend wishing I had a video camera to catch the event. I thought how blessed we could be if we showed that kind of persistence in missionary work. Damien and I were able to watch her sit down and tell her friend about it from a distance. When she came back I asked her what she said. She said, " it is from church it helps us be good." She also asked Lani to wear it to school so she could show others. We later saw Lani showing and telling her cousin about the CTR ring.

As for the boys and their rings. I'm still waiting for them to give them out.

Christmas holidays been and gone

The holiday were a busy time for us. Juliet had her 5th Birthday on Christmas Eve so it was very exciting. She is now a old enough for school. So amongst all the Christmas buying and wrapping I also had to buy and wrap the birthday presents. We also try to make it a special day for her and have to remind them that Christmas can't come until after Juliet has had her birthday. She is very lucky though she shares her birthday with two of her aunties, so they try and make her feel special too.

Christmas morning was fun. The children have to wait for everyone wakes up before they can go in the lounge to see the presents. The rule is you are not allowed to wake anyone up or you go last. I don't want them doing what My sibling and I use to do. We would bother our poor mum until she would let us open some presents and this would sometimes be not much after midnight.

The Children walking into the lounge room Christmas morning

Charles, Juliet, and Anabelle's Christmas presents from Santa

Presents under the tree for relatives and for each other.

Santa gives the children clothes, books, socks and jocks, the last two for children that have been naughty though the year, and a stocking full of goodies that is found on their bed in the morning. The toys on the other hand come from mum and dad. Why should Santa get all the glory. This year they all got scooters even Damien got a scooter. The best present to me was watching their faces and the handmade gifts they had made for Damien and me.

We had my family (Sturt's) over for lunch. It was the first year in a very long time that every one was together on Christmas Day. It was only for about 5 minutes but we were all still together. There was 31 people in total It was lucky we had done our back yard up so we could be outside.

Dinner was at Thorndon park with the Watts side of the family. It was good as there was plenty of things for the children to do. After we went back to The Pilkington's home so we could exchange presents.

I was exhausted by the end of the day and had a busy day to follow.

School End of Year routines

The end of a school year normally includes class parties, movies, games, activities, excursions and end of year concert. That was exactly what we got.

Tuesday
The end of year concert is always the last Tuesday. People start setting their seats up before school finishes. It doesn't start until 7pm. We all ways try and get there at about 6:30 and have a sausage from the sausage sizzle while we wait. The class were grouped into 7 groups and then there were other acts (office staff, choir, band etc.) in between the class acts. The first 3 class acts included the boys classes and Ruthie's class.

Damien was not impressed with what they said the song would be about. They said it would be about the real meaning of Christmas. There was only one song about the nativity, most of the others talked about Santa. It was good, the children all did well, but they shouldn't have really said it was about the real meaning of Christmas. Rory kept putting his hands up to many times when doing the movements to the song. Unfortunately we didn't get any photo but I believe Ruth may have.

Wednesday
Isiah's class had a class party Boys had the savoury and the girls the sweets. The boys always seem to get the savoury and I just want to do a sweet. Isiah wanted salad sandwiches like we have at family parties. So I spent that morning buying what I needed and then making sandwiches. He ended up with just chicken and lettuce sandwiches. Their was so much food when I got there. It was like a family party, no risk of running out of food. Charles and Juliet were able to eat the food as well. We ended up leaving with just as much food as we took, if not more.

We also had casual day(non-uniform day). The children had to donate a non perishable food to come to school in normal clothes. This is normally done on the last day at a cost of a gold coin donation. The Donations go to good cause that the SRC choose. The food was to go into hampers for the less fortunate.

Thursday
The Year 3 to Year 7 go to the Adelaide Aquatics Centre the last Thursday of the year. Rory asked me to come and watch because I wouldn't have Juliet and Charles. I went along to watch. He spent most of his time with me and not his friends. I had brought along a packed lunch for Rory and myself. So we ate together, he picked a table some of his friends were at. When we finished eating I told him to spend time with his friends. He wanted me to watch him so we had to find his friends together so I would know where to look. It was fun watching him, I don't get that opportunity very often as it is usually spent entertaining one of the others. I am so happy Rory isn't embarrassed by me yet and has no problems hugging me in front of his friends.

Friday
As the class rooms were packed up out came the movies and the games. The last day is usually bring a game to play with others. The boys are always keen to take games to school. I on the other hand are scared pieces will go missing. After careful selection of a game (I normally would hand them twister), they got to take their choose game to school.

School always ends an hour early so I picked them up at 2:10 and started our holidays.

Kindy Graduation

Sorry it's been awhile. Damien set this up and was suppose to keep it up to date but seems to be leaving it up to me, and I hate writing(typing) me thoughts. Hence it hasn't been updated in ages.

So much has happened since last blog. We have had Juliet kindy graduation, end of year school activities, school holidays, Christmas, 2 camping trips, Juliet starting school,a heat wave reaching up to 46c, 2 teeth and crawling.

I think it might take more than one blog. Charles won't let me be on the computer that long.I think this one will contain the morning of the Kindy graduation.

Juliet is growing up so fast. The last Tuesday of Kindy she had her graduation. She had her dad, Nanna, Auntie Sarah and eventually her mum and Anabelle there. Damien was good, he got there nice and early for it I believe that he was the first parent there. Me on the other hand saw that morning as a good time to get the Christmas lay-by of.

The boys were at school, Charles was at Child Care and Juliet was at Kindy. I should have had plenty of time to get the laybys and get back. During the toys sales the stores had been storing the laybys at their warehouse and you needed to give them 5 working days notice that you wanted to collect your laybys. I had done this so thought I would have no problem collecting the layby. When I got there they couldn't find all the parcels of one of the laybys. It hadn't been sent with the other parcels. They could replace most of the parcel but not the scooter I had for Charles, the other option was to come back when the missing parcel was there. Option one was the best for me as I would have all 5 children with me when they finally would get it in. Now I just had to get Charles another scooter.

When I finally got out of there I had to go straight to kindy. By the time i got there the graduation was half way through and they had already done Juliet. I felt so bad. What kind of mother would miss her daughters graduation. At least Damien was there. We were able to take photo with her friends. None of which are at her school or aren't at school yet.
